Yes, you read that title right – it’s July and I’m posting a June Author Update.
Those of you who know me should not be surprised by this.
If you’ve been keeping up with what’s been happening with my books, you know that both of my books through CleanReads were going to be out of print because of the company closing its doors. I’ve made peace with it, honestly. I will always be grateful to the company for giving me my first publishing deal and for believing in me when I didn’t believe in myself. They gave me my start, and even a job for a short amount of time as an editor. Ultimately, if it is the Lord’s will for something to happen, there is nothing in this world that can stop it.
And apparently my books were supposed go go out of print.
What I didn’t know was that they would officially go out of print on Wednesday, June 29th, 2022.
I can’t even begin to describe my shock and horror when I did a basic search on Amazon for them and came up with nothing.
That’s right – nothing.
Now, if you’re lucky, you’ll find copies of An Angel in the Distance sold through online independent bookstores with a few dollar markup. (They’ve got to make a living too). Other than that, An Angel in the Distance and Angels in Darkness are no longer actively in distribution. (My other book, When the Italian Came to Stay is still available for purchase in all formats!)
So what does this mean?
I’m so glad you asked.
As an author I have a big decision in front me. These books have too much potential for them to be just forgotten about. I can’t just pack them away and forget about them.
I have to find them a new home.
This is where my journey begins – traditional publisher, hybrid publisher, self-publisher? I don’t know, but I can make you one promise.
No matter where these books end up, they will end up with a new publisher, but more importantly, there will be a third book in the series.
Yup. That’s right – An Angel in the Distance Book Three (Working Title) – is happening.
The plot is in the concept stages, but this book will mainly focus on Sofia, especially since there is a pretty significant event that happens in history that would directly effect Sofia.
